Chocolate Orange Pound Cake

Chocolate orange pound cake is the interesting take on this popular dessert where orange cake is inside chocolate cake.So in every slice you can enjoy both orange cake as well as chocolate cake and it also looks very attractive hence by making this or following this style you can make different combinations to impress your friends and family or your guest in hotels.

Ingredients Required:

Chocolate orange pound cake

For Orange Pound Cake:

  • Flour – 100 gm
  • Powder Sugar – 100 gm
  • Eggs – 2 no’s
  • Butter – 100 gm
  • Milk – 50 ml
  • Orange Rind- 10 gm
  • Orange Colour – few drops
  • Baking Powder- 3 gm

For Chocolate Pound Cake:

  • Flour – 80 gm
  • Cocoa Powder – 20 gm
  • Powder Sugar – 100 gm
  • Eggs -2 no’s
  • Butter – 100 gm
  • Milk – 25 ml
  • Dark Chocolate – 50 gm
  • Vanilla Essence- 5 ml
  • Baking Powder – 3 gm

Chocolate orange pound cake Method:

1. First to make orange pound cake, cream butter with powder sugar until fluffy.Then gradually add slightly whisked eggs and continue creaming.

2.Now add grated orange rind and orange colour, mix well.Finally fold in the flour and baking powder mixture gently.Once done transfer this orange cake mixture into a lined rectangle cake tin and bake at 180c for about 20 to 25 minutes depending on the oven.

3.After baking remove from the oven,demould and allow the cake to cool down completely before going to next step.

4.Once orange pound cake cooled down start to cream butter and powder sugar for chocolate pound cake mixture until fluffy.After that add slightly whisked eggs with vanilla essence gradually while creaming.

5.Once eggs are incorporated add melted dark chocolate and continue mixing.Finally fold in the flour,cocoa powder and baking powder mixture.

6.Now take a lined rectangular baking tin apply some chocolate pound cake batter in the bottom.Now place the trimmed orange pound cake bar on top it and cover it with the remaining chocolate pound cake batter all around.

7.Bake this in the oven at 180c for about 20 to 25 minutes.After baking allow the loaf to cool down completely before cutting and serving.
